The highly complex nose opens on an elegant combination of ripe red and black fruit aromas together with delicate toasted hazelnut notes. From an attack on expressive, ripe red fruit notes such as cherry and raspberry, the packed and rich mid-palate reveals an array of red and black fruit flavours accompanied by subtle coffee notes. Toasted hazelnut notes make an attractive return, bringing length and balance to a finish underpinned by refined tannins.
Escudo Rojo is a blended wine made from four different grape varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon (40%) and Cabernet Franc (2%), traditional Bordeaux varieties, give refinement and tannic power, while Carmenere (38%) and Syrah (20%) bring body, density and a touch of spice.
